Workshops
I believe in leveraging ones strengths and giving back to the community. Especially in photography where community is HUGE. I learned from my friend, Dane Sanders, that community is like a potluck. Everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of how much experience one has. Well, prior to photography, I spent over 10 years working in the IT industry. A good portion of that as a consultant. I’ve worked in almost all the industries and have encountered, trained and implemented systems for all kinds of individuals and major corporations. I am 100% committed to giving back to the photography community as I have learned a tremendous amount by just being a part of the community.
Back Your A** Up Workshop
Back ups. We always talk about it, say we need to do it, but there’s that good handful out there (you know who you are!) that think it takes too much time and that losing your data will never happen to you. Guess what. It will. And it’ll probably happen when you least expect it.
This is my first workshop covering one of the most important steps in your workflow, protecting and archiving your digital assets. Sure there are several ways to go about backing up. In this workshop I will explain the fundamentals of backing up, the difference between a backup and archive, tips on optimizing your computer for maximum performance, as well as streamlining and automating your backup process. After this workshop, you should come out with a solid understanding with steps and processes you can implement immediately.
Brief overview of what we’ll cover:
- Why your computer and hardware are important to your workflow.
- Learn how to set up your Mac/PC for optimal performance.
- Your hard drive will fail.
- Backup vs. Archive – What’s the difference?
- Keeping your “other” files safe.
- The three Rs in keeping your photos safe.
- The minimum, intermediate and advanced setup for data storage.
- Ways to automate photo backups.
- Ongoing maintenance.
- Q&A
