Powell Camera Shop – Covina, CA

I normally don’t talk about stores I’ve been to but I have to recommend Powell Camera Shop in Covina. They’ve been around for over 50 some years and their experience proves that. I’m typically a bargain big store shopper but Powell Camera’s prices are pretty on par. I’ve been in there a few times now to pick up photo paper, flash diffusers, etc and whenever I had questions they always came through on a solution. For the life of me I can’t remember their names right now! I was just in there today to buy some Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl (I highly recommend btw!) paper for some prints and it was pretty busy!

I’m all for supporting the smaller mom & pops stores because I know it’s hard to compete with the big box shops. Even though they don’t carry a massive inventory, they can generally get what you need special ordered within a few days. I’ll probably be doing most of my shopping for ink, photo supplies and equipment here. It also helps that if you are a student at the Tri-Comm Photo program, you get a nice discount that will at least save you on tax. So if you’re in need of anything photography related, go visit these guys. Even if you have a question about using your point and shoot camera, these guys are a great resource.
