Whatever Wednesdays are back! I felt compelled to post this. Yes, the country is in a “recession”. I get that, but if we’re in a recession, why is it that people still have no problem spending money on high end goods? One of my good photographer friends, Karen Stott of Avayah Photography, wrote a great post on hiring a professional photographer. The Craigslist ad she mentions was quite the talk of the wedding photography industry. I don’t want to seem like a grumpy photographer but it’s so disheartening sometimes when I meet with great couples but they under value the importance of photography on their wedding day.

The old adage of “You get what you pay for..” is very true. If you want to only pay for photography at K-Mart prices, well that’s what you’re going to get.

I can’t write a post without a photo! This photos is from the City Center, Las Vegas this past weekend. I was there in Vegas helping out by friend Jason Zalameda shoot a wedding at the Mirage. The entire place screams expensive. We walked around that place pretty lost and it felt like we were in an airport. I guess I gotta give it some time to grow. The mall still had plenty of empty shops and it is still fairly new.

I know, it’s only Wednesday but I’m already wishing it were Friday, yesterday! Our church river trip is coming up this weekend which puts me out for a good week. There’s so much to get done with my new website, blog and branding! To top it off I got sick this past Sunday and am still feeling less that 100%. Now my wife, Erika, is starting to feel sick! And I still haven’t gotten the boat ready yet!

But that’s OK. I took a deep breath and said “God, can you give me a little help today?” Sure enough, as much as I didn’t think I would accomplish anything today, I’m surprised at how much was completed! Right as the sun was going down, I decided to pull the covers off the ol’ boat and see if she’d fire up. *click* *click* *click* Damn. Battery is dead. Pulled up the truck along side the boat and jumped it. Like the little engine that could it slowly but surely fired up! Such a weight off my shoulders!

I guess what I’m getting at, is that sometimes you just gotta ask Him for help. Not necessarily a prayer, just ask! After all, it’s not like he doesn’t know you need the help anyway. Now I know, you’re thinking church river trip? How much fun can that be? Well it’s photos like this that make you appreciate what He has created and done for us. There’s nothing like getting up at the crack of dawn, head out on the calm, smooth as glass, river and just enjoy the silence and wonder.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s also the awesome fellowship with my church family. I love pulling the kids on a tube and throwing them across the water like rag dolls. Bahahaha.

I was ready to tell Erika, I don’t think I can get everything done for us to go on this trip, with us being sick, but He came through. Take care and God bless!

Whatever Wednesdays: Rant

This one is going to be nice and brief. Yes I know I’m a day late on this. I’d like to thank the WordPress for iPhone app for making my lengthy post disappear twice yesterday! Seriously. First off I was on vacation in San Diego with my family and cousins from out of town trying to blog while we wander throughout the San Diego Zoo. First attempt, FAIL, my post was created and saved as a draft. Went back only to see that there’s (1) draft available but when you click on that folder, it’s empty! Second attempt during lunch, FAIL. iPhone went to sleep while eating only to see the same thing happen again! So now the local drafts folder shows that there are two posts there but when you open up the folder nothing appears! So now I know, blogging from the WP iPhone app sucks and I need to try another approach. Rant over. Hopefully next Wednesday proves to be more successful.

So is there a better way to blog while mobile? Please share! Thanks!
