Big news and a GREAT deal!
So as I mentioned in the last post, I’ve partnered up with a couple photographer friends to open up a studio. The studio is called Coco Gallery. It’s been an intense six or so months of research, planning, meeting, brainstorming, and implementing! Quite the learning process especially when I’ve been a solo entrepreneur for the past four [...]
I’m back…
It’s been a whirlwind six or so months.. I won’t go into too much detail but I’ll try to break it down as simple as possible! How about a list? I like lists.. I’ve merged my photography business with two other photographers! We’re in the process of opening up a studio to better serve our [...]
Camera Phone Friday – Yo, you got the juice now, man.
“Yo, you got the juice now, man.” is a quote from the movie Juice starring Omar Epps (This was one his first acting gigs and he’s come a long way). It was one of my favorite movies back in the day when I was a immature teen. Anyways, this shot reminded me of the movie.
I still amazed at the quality of the photos that are pumped out of my HTC EVO. The amount of control and customizability of the phone in general makes me 100% satisfied in pitching the iPhone. Face time? Got it. And I can even face time with iPhone users using a cool app called fring. And no, it doesn’t require WiFi! All the apps that I depended on on the iPhone, I have on my EVO: Remember the Milk, Bump, Google Voice, Shazam, Seesmic, and even Wordpress. I’m typing this post on my EVO via the Wordpress app while on the go!
Camera Phone Friday – Waiting Patiently
Happy Friday everyone! Friday’s used to be iPhone Fridays but now that I’m on the awesome HTC EVO 4G, we shall call it Camera Phone Fridays. Anyways, I had this grand plan to do a 365 Android photo series thanks to my buddy Thomas. I FAILED. Pretty miserably too after I think 16 days! The EVO takes amazing photos at 8mp. It was the getting out of my creative comfort zone that killed it.
I'm thankful for…
Well, I am truly thankful that the Lord has blessed me with my children, and equally so for my wife, Erika, of 10 years this Friday on the 27th. Without her, I couldn’t even fathom what my life would be like now! Back in September we were fortunate enough to have the time and childcare available to spend a week in our favorite island, Maui in Hawaii, to celebrate our anniversary. There was no way we would be able to really get away this weekend! It was such a memorable and relaxing time!
Anyone that has met Erika knows we’re polar
iPhone Friday: Maui Sunset
Here’s a photo I took while I was in Maui this past week celebrating 10 blessed years of marriage with my wife, Erika. You can’t go wrong with a Maui sunset. They are ALWAYS beautiful! This was taken while in Lahaina for dinner at Kimo̵…
Welcome to the new blog-site!!
Welcome to my new blog-site! If you were typing in my old domain name www.photosbyalfredb.com and ended up here, I’m glad you made it over safely!! Well as you can see, this is my new blog theme that I’ve been slaving over for months. There’s still minor tweaks here and there but for the most [...]
iPhone Fridays: A rainbow of colors
A while back I did a survey for Rosco. They manufacture gels and gobos for stage lighting. Their gel sample books have hundreds of different shades of colors! Ironically, the sample gels just happen to fit over the front of your shoe mount flash! Anyways I recieved a goodie bag in the mail and recieved [...]
iPhone Fridays: Personal Space
It’s another iPhone Friday! TGIF everyone! I’m heading off to the Colorado river this weekend for a week of nothing but lounging on my boat up and down the Parker stretch of water. It’ll be hot but I think the water will make up for it.
Today’s photo is currently serving as my wallpaper on my [...]
Whatever Wednesdays: What a week!
I know, it’s only Wednesday but I’m already wishing it were Friday, yesterday! Our church river trip is coming up this weekend which puts me out for a good week. There’s so much to get done with my new website, blog and branding! To top it off I got sick this past Sunday and am [...]
iPhone Fridays: In between the lines…
So I call this one “In between the lines…” for obvious reasons. This brand spankin’ new SUV owner clearly needs to learn how to drive a large vehicle. Whatever they were in a hurry for was clearly waaaay too important for them to fix their parking!
Whatever Wednesdays: Rant
This one is going to be nice and brief. Yes I know I’m a day late on this. I’d like to thank the Wordpress for iPhone app for making my lengthy post disappear twice yesterday! Seriously. First off I was on vacation in San Diego with my family and cousins from out of town trying to blog while we wander throughout the San Diego Zoo. First attempt, FAIL, my post was created and saved as a draft. Went back only to see that there’s (1) draft available but when you click on that folder, it’s empty! Second attempt during lunch
Change is Good
Just as I was starting to catch up on my blog posts, I failed again! BUT for good reasons this time, I swear! The end of June proved to be a time of some changes, specifically for myself as a photographer. If you haven’t heard of Dane Sanders from myself or other photographers, he’s the most REAL photographer you will ever meet. Dane started his Fast Track Roadshow Workshop a few months ago based on his book Fast Track Photographer. I gotta tell ya, his book is like no other photography book. You aren’t going to learn
It’s been a long time….
I’m such a bad blogger but as mentioned in previous posts, my wife and I were expecting our third child. Well that time came. For the sake of internet weirdos, his name is withheld but his stats were: born at 3:25am, 20″ long, 7lbs 6oz. Oh and on my wife’s birthday (May 25th), which was totally unexpected. This whole time we were expecting him early, at least a couple weeks, since our other two kids were two weeks early. Yeah no not the case. This one decided to stay in the oven for just a bit longer! Needless to say
I need your votes!!
A few weekends ago, I participated on a group photo shoot with about 30 other photographers, amateur and pro, at the Brea Dam in Fullerton. See my previous post for more photos. This event was put on by fellow photographers Hanssie Trainor and Matt Saville. Well they decided to have a contest just for fun and this is my entry:
It would be totally awesome if you could vote for me!!! Go to this post on Hanssie’s website and click on the vote link at the top or bottom of the post and vote for my
What? Really? A blog post? Yes!
Such a bad blogger I have been! But I have reasons (excuses) to my disappearance! On the business side of things, there are a lot of big changes going on in the backend to cause one to go crazy. Mainly, rebranding. I’m working with my awesome graphic designer Claire de Leon of Kalea Invitations on some full blown rebranding which is a long process! Included in that is a MAJOR theme overhaul on my blog which you may slowly see overtime. For anyone that has never run a business or is planning on starting their first business, I
Sneak Peek: Fantabulous February Facebook Photo Promo & Quick WPPI Recap
So I spent all last week learning and absorbing all I could at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Trade Show and Conference. Wow. I’m exhausted and my brain is ready to explode. I learned soooo much at WPPI this year and can’t wait until next year! It’s definitely going to take me to the next level and I’m itching to apply all that I’ve learned. Of all the classes I attended the top three were Dane Sanders, Joe Photo and Gene Higa. All three of them have inspired me and motivated me to not just

Where did January go?!?! – The longest day…
Seriously, it came and gone in one fell swoop! I know, I already have been slacking by not posting the past two weeks, but I honestly can’t remember much of the last two weeks. That’s how crazy it was. This weekend I will be photographing Aurelio and Julieta’s 40th wedding anniversary party at a new venue in Chino Hills. It’s a funny yet kind of sad story, why 40th and not 50th? They said that they wanted to have a 50th celebration but just in case one of them doesn’t make it until then, they would just have a 40th
